The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the production of fabrication and shop drawings from executed contracts through final release, ensuring alignment with project schedules and scope.
- Lead the preparation of technical submittals, drawings, and material documentation for client and consultant review.
- Coordinate with external engineers and consultants to integrate calculations, delegated design elements, and technical requirements.
- Translate approved shop drawings into detailed 2D fabrication documentation, while guiding and reviewing work completed by other drafters.
- Prepare preliminary and final material order documentation, along with supporting technical records required for manufacturing.
- Act as a technical point of contact for the fabrication team, responding to questions and resolving drawing‑related issues.
- Support estimating and change management efforts by identifying scope gaps and documenting out‑of‑scope impacts.
- Maintain organized and accurate project records, drawings, and supporting files throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in engineering, drafting, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Approximately 5+ years of experience supporting custom fabrication or glazing / façade systems.
- Strong proficiency in 2D CAD drafting for manufacturing and construction applications.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Working knowledge of construction sequencing and fabrication practices.
- Experience using common office software; exposure to 3D modeling or parametric design tools is an asset.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across disciplines.
