Senior Water Resources Engineer
Overview
This firm is a water-focused engineering firm dedicated exclusively to water. Our teams support the planning, design, and delivery of water, wastewater, stormwater, and water reuse facilities and programs. Clients include water agencies, municipalities, utilities, research organisations, and private companies across Florida.
This position is intended for an experienced engineer who will lead and deliver water resources, water supply planning, and reuse work. The exact balance of responsibilities can be tailored based on your background (program planning, technical leadership, project management, modeling/analysis, or design integration).
Projects You May Lead or Support
- Water resources studies and watershed/basin assessments
- Water supply feasibility studies and integrated water supply plans
- One Water plans, road-maps, and implementation programs
- Demand management, conservation planning, and drought/resilience planning
- Water reuse studies and program development (planning through implementation support)
- Planning and design integration for supporting infrastructure such as pipelines, pump stations, open channels, storage and treatment facilities, recharge/infiltration systems, well-fields, channel stabilisation measures, and related natural and man-made systems
Responsibilities (Flexible by Role Focus)
Responsibilities may include a combination of the following, with emphasis adjusted to align with your strengths and the needs of the projects and teams.
- Deliver water resources, water supply planning, and reuse projects in Florida from scoping through completion
- Lead or oversee technical work on studies including water resources evaluations, feasibility studies, integrated supply plans, One Water programs, conservation plans, and reuse studies
- Guide calculations and analyses of water supplies and demands; develop and evaluate planning scenarios; document assumptions and results
- Direct or apply hydraulic and hydrologic modeling to support planning and, where applicable, design decisions
- Support planning-to-implementation transitions, including alternatives analysis, conceptual sizing, constructability and operational considerations, and integration with adjacent disciplines
- Manage and/or provide technical oversight for medium- to large-sized projects, including budget, schedule, contractual requirements, and quality expectations
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, designers, and scientists to integrate infrastructure and program elements
- Communicate with clients and stakeholders through meetings, workshops, written deliverables, and presentations
- Mentor and review the work of staff; evaluate progress and outcomes and recommend adjustments to meet project objectives
- Periodic travel may be required depending on project needs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering (or closely related discipline with a water-focused emphasis)
- 15+ years of experience delivering water resources, water supply, reuse, and related water infrastructure planning/design support
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Demonstrated experience managing and designing medium- to large-sized projects with responsibility for budget, schedule, contractual obligations, and quality standards
- Ability to evaluate team progress and project results and recommend changes to achieve objectives
- Strong engineering judgement, including the ability to anticipate and solve complex or novel technical problems
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal project teams; comfortable in public speaking and facilitation settings
- Track record of delivering high-quality services within budget and schedule constraints
- Working knowledge across water, water resources and reuse systems relevant to integrated planning and implementation (e.g., master planning, conveyance, and treatment interfaces)
- Familiarity with applicable codes, regulations, and permitting frameworks relevant to water supply and water management projects
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Familiarity with ArcGIS
- Familiarity with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling tools (e.g., WaterGEMS, InfoWater, InfoWorks ICM, InfoSWMM, Groundwater Vistas) or equivalent software

Compensation will be determined within the posted salary range based on factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
