Roadway Engineer
Our client, a regional, employee-owned engineering firm, is seeking a Roadway Engineer to support transportation infrastructure projects across Michigan. This is a great opportunity for someone with 3+ years of roadway design experience who is ready to take on meaningful design work and collaborate with a team delivering high-impact projects.
The Roadway Engineer will be responsible for:
- Developing roadway design plans in accordance with MDOT standards
- Preparing construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates
- Coordinating with clients, agencies, and internal teams to meet project goals
- Supporting geometric design, ADA compliance, and drainage layout
- Performing site visits and field reviews to support design accuracy
- Assisting project managers with scheduling, budgeting, and client communication
- Participating in QA/QC reviews and mentoring junior staff as needed
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 3 years of roadway engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of MDOT design standards and procedures
- Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, and other design software
- Familiarity with roadway, intersection, and corridor design
- EIT or PE license (preferred or in progress)
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
