Transportation Department Manager
Our client, a regional, employee-owned engineering firm, is seeking a Transportation Department Manager to lead transportation infrastructure projects across Minnesota. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned transportation professional with 10+ years of experience who is ready to take on a leadership role, mentor a growing team, and shape the future of mobility in the region.
The Transportation Department Manager will be responsible for:
- Leading and managing a team of transportation engineers and designers
- Overseeing project delivery from planning through construction
- Building and maintaining client relationships with DOTs, municipalities, and private clients
- Developing and executing department growth strategies
- Managing budgets, schedules, and resource allocation
- Ensuring quality control and compliance with industry standards
- Supporting business development and proposal efforts
- Collaborating with other discipline leads across the firm
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 10 years of relevant transportation engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of MnDOT standards and procedures
- Experience with roadway design, traffic studies, and transportation planning
- Proficiency in MicroStation, GEOPAK, or OpenRoads
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Minnesota (or ability to obtain)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
