Senior Project Manager (MC)

Role requires travel until April. In April, full relocation to Atlanta, GA is required.

Role Summary

The Senior Project Manager provides strategic leadership and oversight for complex construction projects or multiple concurrent projects. This role is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and successful project delivery. Responsibilities span from preconstruction through closeout and are carried out in alignment with the company's mission, values, and safety standards.

Core Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Safety

  • Champions a culture of safety and leads by example to promote an injury-free work environment.
  • Investigates safety incidents and ensures corrective actions and retraining are implemented.

Preconstruction & Procurement

  • Supports preconstruction efforts including quantity takeoffs, trade coordination, bid package development, and schedule planning.
  • Leads subcontractor buyout process, including scope verification, pricing analysis, and contract issuance.
  • Coordinates with internal teams to obtain pricing and logistics for materials and equipment.

Project Execution & Coordination

  • Manages submittal schedules and ensures timely review and approval of shop drawings and samples.
  • Coordinates with stakeholders including subcontractors, owners, design teams, and vendors.
  • Oversees change management processes, including pricing, schedule impact analysis, and approvals.
  • Leads project meetings including progress reviews and owner-architect-contractor (OAC) sessions.

Scheduling & Resource Management

  • Develops and maintains project schedules in collaboration with field leadership, applying Lean principles where appropriate.
  • Identifies potential schedule impacts and facilitates mitigation strategies.
  • Manages procurement, labor, and material tracking to ensure alignment with schedule goals.

Financial Oversight

  • Prepares and reviews monthly cost forecasts and margin analysis with input from the project team.
  • Participates in budget development and monitors cost performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Leads subcontractor and owner pay application processes.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintains thorough documentation of decisions affecting budget, schedule, safety, and quality.
  • Interfaces with legal counsel as needed to address contractual or compliance matters.
  • Leads project closeout activities including punch lists, financial reconciliation, and warranty documentation.

Senior-Level Responsibilities

In addition to core duties, the Senior Project Manager:

  • Leads preconstruction discussions with clients and supports estimating and productivity analysis.
  • Oversees development of preconstruction estimates and risk assessments.
  • Assists in creating and managing the project business plan to optimize financial outcomes.
  • Manages internal deliverables from support teams such as logistics, self-perform, and technology.
  • Engages in industry and community activities to build external relationships and promote the company.
  • Negotiates project changes, contingency use, and fee enhancements.
  • Collaborates with marketing on presentations and business development efforts.
  • Promotes a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion across project teams.

Qualifications

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication; capable of leading presentations.
  • Proficient in construction management software, scheduling tools, and MS Office.
  • Knowledgeable in BIM and Lean construction principles.
  • Skilled in budgeting, estimating, and financial forecasting.
  • Ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong relationship-building and team leadership capabilities.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 10+ years of construction management experience, including leadership of complex projects.

Working Conditions

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate as needed.
  • May be exposed to varying weather conditions and non-traditional work hours.
  • Work may be performed on project sites and/or in office settings.
  • Frequent sitting and computer use; occasional physical activity including walking, climbing, and bending.
