Airport Civil Engineer
Provides technical assistance and guidance for due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, improvement, and construction of aviation facilities, infrastructure, and projects. Tasks may include assisting with the design, concept development, and construction of facilities for the landing, take off, movement of aircraft on the ground, parking of airplanes on loading aprons, maintenance and repairs of areas, access roads from the city side to airport, terminals and handling of passengers, baggage, and freight. Generates accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding material, installations, and construction specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant post‑graduate engineering experience, including prior aviation design experience.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with FAA advisory circulars, standards, and procedures.
- Hands‑on experience using FAA design software and tools, including FAARFIELD, COMFAA, and OE/AAA.
- Strong understanding of aviation engineering principles, practices, design/build processes, and their application to permitting and project delivery.
- Proven experience in airport planning, design, and construction management, including both landside and airside projects such as airfield pavement rehabilitation and construction, navigational aids, grading and drainage, and stormwater management.
- Ability to effectively coordinate with regulatory agencies and interpret applicable requirements.
- Knowledge of processes and best practices for reducing or eliminating hazardous substances and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Familiarity with aviation construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance standards, and documentation/record‑keeping practices.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
- Demonstrated self‑leadership, attention to detail, results orientation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to learn new techniques, work independently, follow instructions, and comply with company policies and procedures.
- Moderate proficiency in technical writing, office software, engineering tools, spreadsheets, predictive models, and related technologies.
- Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or other relevant design software.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to analyze data, evaluate testing results, and develop effective, economical, and practical solutions.
