Civil Office Manager (Emporia, KS)
Key Responsibilities
Office Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage the local office, overseeing staff, resources, and project delivery
- Mentor and develop engineering team members, fostering a strong performance culture
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality
- Support hiring, team growth, and overall office strategy
Client Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for key clients and stakeholders
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with public and/or private sector clients
- Represent the company in meetings, presentations, and industry events
- Ensure a high level of client satisfaction and repeat business
Business Development & Winning Work
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the civil infrastructure market
- Lead proposal efforts, including scoping, pricing, and strategic positioning
- Leverage existing networks and develop new relationships to grow the client base
- Collaborate with senior leadership to expand the firm's market presence
Technical Oversight
- Provide technical guidance and oversight across a range of civil engineering projects (e.g., land development, water/wastewater, or municipal infrastructure)
- Review designs, reports, and deliverables to ensure quality and compliance
- Support project teams in solving complex engineering challenges
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain)
- 10_+ years of experience in civil engineering, including project delivery and client interaction
- Proven experience managing teams, projects, or an office environment
- Demonstrated success in developing client relationships and winning new work
- Strong understanding of local/regional market dynamics and client landscape
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
