EPC Contract Specialist
Department Overview
This role sits within the EPC Procurement function, which participates in renewable energy projects from the early concept and planning stage. The team's mission is to maximize project value by designing optimal contract structures and leading high-level negotiations with EPC contractors, leveraging strong technical, legal, and commercial expertise.
The department also serves as a key gatekeeper for cost and risk assessment, directly impacting investment decisions and project profitability in power generation developments.
Key Responsibilities
1. EPC Partner Selection Strategy
- Develop optimal EPC contractor selection strategies based on project characteristics such as energy source, location, technology, and schedule.
2. Negotiation Process Design
- Prepare ITB (Invitation to Bid) documents.
- Evaluate and shortlist EPC candidates.
- Design phased negotiation strategies and scenarios to achieve favorable outcomes.
3. Securing Owner-Favorable Contract Terms
- Lead direct negotiations with domestic and international EPC contractors to reduce EPC contract value and mitigate contractual risks.
- Negotiate key commercial and risk-related terms, including liquidated damages (delay and performance), performance and quality guarantees, liability caps, and payment terms.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with technical, legal, finance, and development teams to structure contracts that minimize owner-side risk and align with overall project strategy.
4. Contract Execution and Post-Contract Management
- Finalize EPC contracts under optimal commercial and contractual conditions.
- Oversee contract administration and support construction execution after contract award.
