Job Title: Estimator - Water & Wastewater Treatment
Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Estimating Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator with a strong background in water and wastewater treatment projects, particularly within chemical dosing systems and odour control units. This role will play a critical part in the pre-construction and tendering process, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing of complex infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for water and wastewater treatment projects, with a focus on chemical dosing and odour control units
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and tender documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to gather input and validate cost elements.
  • Identify material, labour, and equipment requirements and compile quantity take-offs (QTOs).
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors for pricing and technical clarifications.
  • Analyze risks and opportunities associated with project estimates.
  • Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimation tools.
  • Support bid submissions and participate in post-tender negotiations as required.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in estimating water infrastructure projects, preferably in the treatment of potable water or wastewater.
  • Specific knowledge of chemical dosing systems and odour control technologies is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Candy, CostX, Excel-based models).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with local standards, codes, and regulations related to water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Experience working with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) or D&C (Design & Construct) project models.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
