Lead ICT Engineer
Job Summary
The Lead ICT Engineer will collaborate with design teams and oversee full-cycle ICT design activities for mission-critical data center and smart infrastructure projects. This role involves close interaction with leadership to develop and refine project specifications and guide design development efforts.
The Lead ICT Engineer will operate independently on day-to-day tasks, receiving high-level direction for new projects. They will lead complex projects and teams, and may coordinate activities across personnel.
This individual will align their work with organizational goals, values, and departmental objectives.
Essential Functions
ICT Engineering Design Leadership (40%)
- Independently perform advanced engineering and ICT design tasks
- Conduct complex computational analysis and system design
- Develop scalable fiber optic and copper infrastructure
- Determine physical layer routing and utilization
- Use Revit and other tools to create drawings and visual aids
- Prepare and review specifications
- Manage project design teams, including resource planning
- Identify scope changes and develop mitigation strategies
- Conduct QA/QC peer reviews for non-lead projects
Construction Support (20%)
- Survey existing conditions and prepare technical reports
- Collect data for construction documentation
- Prepare design, specification, and construction documents
- Lead engineering efforts and collaborate with project management
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, punch lists, and closeout documents
- Approve change orders
Client Relations and Business Development (20%)
- Develop proposals including scope, schedule, and budget
- Ensure project execution aligns with company standards
- Serve as primary client contact; may act as Client Program Manager
- Support technical research for publications and conferences
Organizational Development and Continuous Improvement (20%)
- Mentor team members and support training initiatives
- Contribute to standards and training development
- Participate in strategic planning and hiring processes
- Ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery of tasks
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Position Requirements (Advanced Level)
- Expertise in fiber optic components, cabling, and interconnects
- Advanced knowledge of structured cabling design and standards
- Proficiency in Revit or similar CAD tools
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies for innovation
- Adherence to safety protocols
- Strong analytical and documentation skills
- Effective communication (technical and non-technical)
- Ability to serve as client-facing representative
- Team-oriented with capacity for independent work
