Senior Building Envelope Consultant/Senior Project Manager
Summary
A leading consultancy is seeking a Senior Building Envelope Consultant/Senior Project Manager to join its New York City office. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with at least six years of experience in façade restoration, FISP compliance, historic preservation, and forensic investigations. The successful candidate will lead complex building envelope projects, supervise a team of up to six project managers and associates, and serve as a technical authority across all phases of project delivery. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-profile restoration efforts while mentoring junior staff and shaping the firm's technical excellence.
Responsibilities
Lead internal project meetings (kick-off, milestone, closeout) to ensure alignment and progress
Manage project schedules and coordinate internal and external resources
Supervise up to six Project Managers/Associates, assigning tasks and providing performance feedback
Recommend staffing changes, including promotions and terminations, to senior leadership
Conduct site inspections, field testing, and documentation of existing conditions
Prepare forensic reports, technical specifications, and construction documents
Oversee testing activities and ensure compliance with project requirements
Produce expert witness reports and support litigation-related investigations
Make informed technical decisions on project-related matters
Serve as primary point of contact for clients and legal representatives
Prepare proposals and maintain professional correspondence throughout project lifecycle
Organize and lead client meetings, clearly communicating objectives and deliverables
Represent the firm at industry events, seminars, and networking opportunities
Coordinate with internal teams to define scope, budget, and timelines
Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring delivery within scope and budget
Mentor junior staff and support their professional development
Maintain organized records and ensure proper documentation across all projects
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
Minimum six years of experience in building envelope consulting or construction
Experience with FISP projects and historic preservation preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license preferred
OSHA-30 Certification required
Valid U.S. Driver's License (travel to client sites required)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD, BricsCAD, Revit (as applicable)
Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards
Excellent time management and organizational abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines
Professional demeanor and client-facing experience
Flexibility to work overtime and travel as needed
