Senior Electrical Engineer

About the Role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll design, analyze, and manage electrical systems across infrastructure sectors-including water/wastewater, federal/industrial facilities, transit, and renewable energy. You'll handle advanced system modeling, site evaluations, client interactions, proposals, code compliance, budgeting, and mentorship of junior engineers. Key software tools include SKM PowerTools and ETAP.
Core Responsibilities
System Design & Technical Analysis
- Lead development of electrical master plans, power distribution, protection systems, substations, switchgear, and facility power infrastructure.
- Perform power system studies (short‑circuit, coordination, arc flash), electrical calculations, and lighting simulations using SKM, ETAP, or similar tools.
Renewables & Sustainability
- Integrate renewable energy solutions (e.g., solar, battery storage) and support sustainability-focused designs.
Field Work & Site Reviews
- Conduct field investigations to verify conditions, update designs accordingly, and perform construction-phase support.
Codes & Compliance
- Ensure designs meet NEC, NFPA, federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., area classification, NFPA 820).
Client Engagement & Collaboration
- Interface with clients, utilities, contractors, and authorities, coordinating across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
- PE license preferred
- 7-10+ years of experience with low/medium-voltage power systems, substations, renewable energy integrations, and infrastructure projects.
- Experience in water/wastewater.
Technical Proficiency
- SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or equivalent for system modeling and analysis
- Power system studies: short‑circuit, protective coordination, arc flash
- Lighting design and simulation tools
- Budget estimation and cost analysis tools (RS Means, similar)
Leadership & Communication
- Strong mentoring, technical writing, and presentation skills
- Ability to supervise junior staff and collaborate with internal teams
