The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join their expanding Miami office, specialising in forensic investigations and field assessments. This role involves evaluating structural damage, determining causation, and recommending repair strategies across a wide range of building types affected by natural events or human‑related issues. The ideal candidate brings strong technical capability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships effectively.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct onsite assessments to document structural conditions and damage caused by natural events (wind, water, fire, seismic) or human factors (design or construction defects).
  • Analyse construction documents and design drawings to support evaluations.
  • Apply knowledge of structural behaviour, building codes, and industry practices to determine causes of damage and recommend repair solutions.
  • Produce clear, detailed technical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and code officials throughout project lifecycles.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely and cost‑effective delivery.
  • Support client relationship development and retention.
  • Travel as required, occasionally on short notice.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • 5-10 years of structural engineering experience with strong understanding of structural systems.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida; multi‑state licensure or ability to obtain is preferred.
  • Familiarity with national building codes and standards.
  • Experience across a variety of construction types and field investigations is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in litigation support, including expert testimony.
