Senior Water Resources Engineer
Job Description
As a Modeler within the Water Services Group, you will contribute to projects at local, regional, and national levels:
- Perform calculations, modeling, data analysis, and design support for water distribution and related water resources projects (e.g., distribution system water quality, water supply planning, climate change adaptation, integrated resource planning, irrigation, pressure conduits, resiliency and redundancy).
- Sign and seal plans and other deliverables as required.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Review work completed by junior team members.
- Collaborate with business development teams to prepare proposals in response to client RFPs.
- Ensure proposals comply with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Engage with clients to understand and support their current and future design needs.
- Contribute to internal knowledge management by developing white papers and technical documentation.
- Submit technical papers and designs for publication in professional journals.
- Attend industry conferences and symposia to enhance visibility of the organization's services and capabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, Coastal, or Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- 10 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required, depending on project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with water modeling and master planning using Bentley WaterGEMS.
- Experience with Autodesk InfoWater.
- Master planning experience for mid-size to large water systems (serving populations of 100,000+).
- Water model calibration experience using fire flow tests.
- PE license in Texas.
Travel Requirement: Approximately 5%
Skills and Abilities
- Expertise in at least two water distributionmodeling platforms:
- Bentley (WaterCAD/WaterGEMS)
- Autodesk (InfoWater/InfoWater Pro)
- Aquanuity (AquaTwin Water)
- Proficiency in GIS software and practices.
- Strong experience constructing, calibrating, and updating hydraulic models using GIS, billing, SCADA, and other data sources.
- Deep understanding of engineering design principles and water system planning.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Familiarity with support tools such as mathematical models and scripting languages.
