Survey Project Manager

An established professional services firm is seeking a Survey Project Manager to lead survey operations, manage project delivery, and uphold the technical and ethical standards required within the land surveying profession. This role offers the opportunity to oversee a diverse portfolio of projects while contributing to a collaborative and professional team environment.


Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Leadership

  • Estimate project costs, develop proposals, and monitor schedules and budgets.
  • Oversee field operations, research efforts, computations, drafting, and all tasks required for project completion.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding project progress, technical needs, and deliverables.
  • Review or prepare project billing and ensure timely, accurate documentation.

Quality Assurance

  • Maintain full responsibility for survey components of assigned projects.
  • Review and verify work completed by team members before affixing professional licensure seal/signature.
  • Coordinate effectively with other licensed disciplines as needed.

Field Survey Expertise

  • Retain working knowledge necessary to guide and instruct field personnel.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of field data collection.
  • Serve as field crew chief when required.

Professionalism & Ethics

  • Adhere to all ethical standards and licensing requirements of the land surveying profession.
  • Demonstrate fairness, honesty, and integrity in interactions with clients, colleagues, and the public.
  • Identify potential conflicts of interest and manage them appropriately.

Regulatory Knowledge

  • Review and interpret applicable state regulations and local ordinances.
  • Recognize when additional research, clarification, or external expertise is required.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying or a related discipline;
    OR
  • Bachelor's degree in another field supplemented by sufficient surveying coursework and mathematics to meet state licensing requirements.

Licensure

  • Active Professional Land Surveyor/LSIT license in the state where project work is performed.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with:
    • AutoCAD
    • COGO and survey adjustment software
    • GPS processing applications
    • Spreadsheet and word-processing tools
    • Image manipulation software
  • Ability to prepare high-quality technical documentation, exhibits, and reports.
