Overview
A leading global engineering and consulting firm is seeking a dynamic Managing Director to lead its Building Diagnostics & Forensics practice. This executive-level role oversees technical excellence, team leadership, market growth, and strategic direction across all diagnostic, forensic, and restoration service lines.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the long‑term vision for the Building Diagnostics & Forensics group.
- Drive growth in core service areas: forensic investigations, structural assessments, building envelope diagnostics, failure analysis, and repair/rehabilitation design.
- Partner with executive leadership on business planning, market expansion, and financial performance.
Technical Excellence
- Provide high‑level oversight on complex forensic investigations, litigation support, and failure analyses.
- Ensure rigorous QA/QC across all deliverables.
- Lead development of technical standards, new methodologies, and innovative diagnostic approaches.
Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary engineers and technical staff across multiple offices.
- Support hiring strategy, workforce planning, and professional development initiatives.
- Cultivate a collaborative, high‑performance culture.
Client & Market Development
- Strengthen relationships with owners, attorneys, architects, contractors, and insurance partners.
- Serve as a senior technical resource for high‑visibility clients.
- Lead proposal strategy, key pursuits, and thought‑leadership initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering (Master's preferred).
- 15+ years of experience in building diagnostics, forensics, restoration, or related practice areas.
- Professional Engineering (PE/SE) license required.
- Demonstrated success leading teams, managing operations, and delivering profitable growth.
- Deep expertise in structural systems, building envelopes, material behavior, and failure mechanisms.
- Exceptional communication, business development, and client‑management skills.
