About the Opportunity

A nationally recognized environmental and engineering consulting firm is seeking a Regional Air Quality Practice Leader to support the continued growth of its air quality practice across key industrial, energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure markets.

This is a senior-level leadership opportunity for an experienced air quality professional who combines technical expertise with project management, client development, and team leadership capabilities. The successful candidate will play a critical role in expanding regional operations, strengthening client relationships, mentoring staff, and leading complex permitting and compliance projects.

Key Responsibilities

Practice Leadership

  • Support the growth and strategic direction of the regional air quality practice.
  • Collaborate with environmental, engineering, planning, and compliance teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Identify new market opportunities and contribute to regional business planning initiatives.
  • Promote technical excellence and consistent project delivery across the practice.

Client Development & Business Growth

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key industrial, energy, manufacturing, and commercial clients.
  • Participate in business development activities, including client meetings, networking events, proposal preparation, and project pursuits.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients and support strategic growth initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients on regulatory and environmental compliance matters.

Technical & Project Leadership

  • Lead and oversee complex air quality permitting and compliance projects.
  • Provide technical guidance on federal and state air regulations, permitting strategies, emissions calculations, and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee preparation of permit applications, technical reports, and regulatory analyses.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Support environmental reviews, impact assessments, and regulatory agency coordination efforts.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level staff.
  • Provide project oversight, resource planning, and workload management.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and professional development initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, client-focused culture that promotes technical excellence and career growth.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Meteorology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in air quality consulting, permitting, compliance, or environmental engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state air permitting programs, including Title V, NSR, PSD, and related regulatory programs.
  • Experience managing environmental projects and client relationships.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing project teams and technical staff.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and business writing skills.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting oil & gas, power generation, manufacturing, chemical processing, infrastructure, mining, or other industrial sectors.
  • Air dispersion modeling experience using industry-standard software.
  • Established relationships with regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, proposal management, and account growth.
  • Experience building and growing consulting teams or technical practice areas.
