We are seeking an experienced Air Quality Specialist to join a growing environmental consulting team supporting a wide range of infrastructure, energy, transportation, and land development projects across California. This role is ideal for a technical professional with a strong background in air quality, climate change analysis, and environmental compliance who enjoys working in a collaborative consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare technical analyses and documentation to support CEQA and NEPA environmental review processes.
- Conduct air quality impact assessments, greenhouse gas emissions evaluations, and climate-related studies for a variety of projects.
- Perform air dispersion modeling, emissions calculations, and health risk assessments using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
- Evaluate regulatory compliance requirements and assist clients with permitting and environmental review obligations.
- Develop clear, defensible technical reports and environmental documents for agency and public review.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including planners, biologists, engineers, and environmental scientists.
- Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting project budgets, schedules, and quality expectations.
- Support client relationships through technical expertise, project coordination, and responsive communication.
- Contribute to proposal preparation, client development efforts, and strategic growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Chemistry, Toxicology, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional licensure are a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in environmental consulting, industry, or public-sector work focused on air quality and environmental compliance.
- Strong knowledge of California air quality regulations, air district requirements, climate policies, and greenhouse gas reduction programs.
- Experience preparing air quality and climate change analyses for CEQA and/or NEPA projects.
- Proficiency with AERMOD or similar air dispersion modeling software.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work on schedule.
- Experience supporting client development or business growth initiatives is preferred.
Compensation
$100,000 - $130,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
