Overview

An established global water technology company is seeking an Applications Engineer to support the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced biological wastewater treatment solutions. This role will serve as a key technical resource for municipal and industrial clients, helping evaluate treatment requirements and develop customized membrane-based solutions.

The successful candidate will work closely with sales, engineering, operations, and end users to deliver high-performance treatment systems that address regulatory, capacity, and water reuse objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop process designs and treatment solutions for industrial wastewater applications.
  • Perform process calculations, equipment sizing, hydraulic evaluations, and biological treatment assessments.
  • Support technical proposals, system layouts, and budgetary process designs.
  • Analyze influent characteristics, treatment goals, and operating data to recommend optimal system configurations.
  • Assist with pilot programs, startup activities, troubleshooting, and process optimization efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams to support project execution and product improvements.
  • Provide technical presentations and training to clients, consultants, and industry partners.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for advanced biological treatment and membrane-based processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Environmental, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in wastewater treatment, process engineering, applications engineering, or related technical roles.
  • Experience with biological treatment technologies such as MBR, activated sludge, nutrient removal, IFAS, MBBR, or tertiary treatment systems.
  • Strong understanding of wastewater process design principles and treatment plant operations.
  • Ability to interpret operational data and develop practical treatment recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to travel periodically for customer meetings, site visits, and startup support.

Preferred Experience

  • Industrial wastewater treatment projects.
  • Water reuse and advanced treatment applications.
  • Pilot testing and process validation.
  • Technical sales or applications engineering support.
  • Familiarity with membrane separation technologies and integrated treatment systems.
