Applications Engineer
Overview
An established global water technology company is seeking an Applications Engineer to support the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced biological wastewater treatment solutions. This role will serve as a key technical resource for municipal and industrial clients, helping evaluate treatment requirements and develop customized membrane-based solutions.
The successful candidate will work closely with sales, engineering, operations, and end users to deliver high-performance treatment systems that address regulatory, capacity, and water reuse objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop process designs and treatment solutions for industrial wastewater applications.
- Perform process calculations, equipment sizing, hydraulic evaluations, and biological treatment assessments.
- Support technical proposals, system layouts, and budgetary process designs.
- Analyze influent characteristics, treatment goals, and operating data to recommend optimal system configurations.
- Assist with pilot programs, startup activities, troubleshooting, and process optimization efforts.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to support project execution and product improvements.
- Provide technical presentations and training to clients, consultants, and industry partners.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for advanced biological treatment and membrane-based processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Environmental, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in wastewater treatment, process engineering, applications engineering, or related technical roles.
- Experience with biological treatment technologies such as MBR, activated sludge, nutrient removal, IFAS, MBBR, or tertiary treatment systems.
- Strong understanding of wastewater process design principles and treatment plant operations.
- Ability to interpret operational data and develop practical treatment recommendations.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to travel periodically for customer meetings, site visits, and startup support.

- Pilot testing and process validation.
- Technical sales or applications engineering support.
- Familiarity with membrane separation technologies and integrated treatment systems.
