A growing process engineering and control systems integration company is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join its engineering team in New York State.
The company specializes in delivering automated process system solutions for the food, beverage, and dairy industries, providing custom engineering and professional services.
This position requires strong communication skills, adaptability within a fast-paced project environment, and a solid understanding of automation and controls engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop control system architecture diagrams.
- Design control panels and electrical schematics using AutoCAD.
- Specify control system equipment, including electrical panel components and motor control center hardware.
- Prepare control system documentation, including bills of materials, wire lists, and installation scopes of work.
- Prepare PLC I/O assignment lists.
- Develop PLC applications using Allen-Bradley Logix 5, 500, and 5000.
- Develop HMI applications using platforms such as Rockwell FactoryTalk View, AVEVA Wonderware, GE iFIX, and Ignition.
- Provide direct technical support to clients on new and existing control systems.
- Develop industrial network designs and specify associated equipment.
- Develop custom applications using VB.NET and SQL relational databases.
- Provide ongoing client support both onsite and remotely.
- Commission control systems as part of startup teams at customer locations throughout the U.S.
- Provide control system training to operations and maintenance personnel.
- Travel approximately 20% depending on project requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Automation Engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Strong PLC and HMI programming experience.
- AutoCAD drawing experience required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting industrial control systems and commissioning/startup activities.
- Willingness to travel throughout the U.S.
