To be considered for this role, candidates should hold a degree in engineering-ideally in civil, structural, or architectural disciplines-or a closely related technical field. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required, demonstrating a strong foundation in engineering principles and a commitment to professional standards. Applicants should bring at least seven years of relevant experience, preferably in structural design, bridge inspection, or infrastructure-related projects. While a formal degree is preferred, individuals with substantial hands-on experience in similar roles may also be considered, provided their background reflects the necessary technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
The extent of travel will vary based on workload, client requirements, and the nature of the engineering tasks involved. A valid driver's license is essential, as field visits and site inspections are a regular part of the job and require safe and reliable transportation.
Ideal candidates will have prior experience working with New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) bridge inspection programs, particularly biennial evaluations. Completion of specialized training courses such as NHI 130055, 130056, or their NYSDOT-recognized equivalents, as well as NHI 130078, is highly desirable.
