Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid)
Compensation: $130,000 - $165,000 base salary + comprehensive benefits package
About the Opportunity
A growing employee-owned engineering and consulting organization is seeking a Business Development Director to help drive strategic growth across multiple service lines and geographic markets. This leadership position combines high-level business development strategy with hands-on execution, partnering closely with executive leadership to identify opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and position the firm for long-term success.
This role is ideal for a business development professional who understands the AEC industry, enjoys building and leading teams, and has a successful track record of developing winning pursuit strategies and capturing new work.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and coordinate business development efforts across the organization.
- Develop and implement growth strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders.
- Oversee CRM utilization and business development tracking initiatives.
- Collaborate with technical and operational teams to support proposals, pursuit planning, fee development, and client presentations.
- Establish and enhance seller-doer programs, training initiatives, and best practices.
- Evaluate opportunities and pursuits to ensure alignment with long-term business goals.
- Guide pursuit teams through go/no-go decisions, capture planning, and win strategy development.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging markets, and growth opportunities.
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
- Travel as needed to support business development activities.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a team supporting proposals, pursuits, and business development initiatives.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching and professional development for business development and marketing professionals.
- Coordinate resources and priorities to ensure high-quality deliverables and pursuit efforts.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive experience in business development, sales, marketing, or client development.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience within engineering, consulting, construction, infrastructure, environmental services, or related professional services industries.
- Proven ability to win and grow strategic client relationships.
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience developing and executing business growth strategies.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with technical and executive stakeholders.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Advanced degree or relevant professional certifications are a plus.
