Director of Business Development

Director of Business Development | South Carolina

Construction | Regional Growth & Leadership

We're working with a major national construction firm looking for a Director of Business Development to lead and grow its presence across South Carolina.

This is not a role where you'll simply inherit a list of accounts and chase opportunities. The business is looking for someone who can own the South Carolina market, build senior-level relationships, identify where the firm should be investing its time and resources, and become a key figure in its long-term growth across the state.

The Opportunity

You'll take responsibility for developing the firm's presence across South Carolina, working closely with regional and national leadership to:

  • Build and execute the South Carolina growth strategy
  • Develop relationships with owners, developers, architects, consultants and key industry partners
  • Identify and position the business for major upcoming construction opportunities
  • Strengthen the firm's visibility within the local market
  • Work alongside operations and preconstruction teams to convert relationships into projects
  • Help shape which sectors, clients and opportunities the business pursues
  • Over time, play a major role in building out the South Carolina platform and team

Who We're Looking For

We're interested in someone who:

  • Has strong relationships across the South Carolina construction and real estate market
  • Understands how major construction projects are identified, pursued and won
  • Has a track record in business development, client development or market leadership
  • Can operate strategically while still being comfortable opening doors themselves
  • Wants the autonomy to build a market rather than simply manage an existing book of business

Experience with a general contractor, construction management firm, developer, architecture/engineering firm or adjacent business would all be relevant.

Why Consider It?

The attraction here is ownership. You'll have the backing and resources of an established national contractor, but the opportunity to put your own stamp on how the business grows across South Carolina.

For someone well connected in the market who feels they've reached a ceiling in their current position, this offers the chance to build something, lead a market and have a genuine influence on the direction of the business.
