About the Opportunity
A growing California-based engineering consulting practice is seeking a Civil Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure projects for public sector clients. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects while collaborating with experienced engineering professionals in a team-oriented environment.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer who enjoys both technical design work and client-facing project responsibilities. This position is best suited for someone who thrives in a collaborative setting, takes ownership of their work, and is interested in contributing to the long-term success of projects and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering designs, calculations, technical reports, and construction documents for public infrastructure projects
- Support planning, design, and delivery efforts for water, wastewater, and municipal improvements
- Assist with project schedules, budgets, and overall project coordination
- Develop scopes of work, fee estimates, and proposal materials
- Coordinate with internal teams, public agencies, contractors, and stakeholders
- Maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and quality project delivery
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineering and design staff
- Ensure project deliverables meet applicable standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- California Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 5+ years of consulting engineering experience
- Experience supporting projects for public sector agencies
- Working knowledge of engineering design principles, permitting processes, and project delivery
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering software tools
Preferred
- Master's Degree in Engineering or related field
- Experience serving as Engineer of Record or leading multidisciplinary project teams
- Background in municipal water, wastewater, or infrastructure projects
- Proposal development and business development experience
