The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineering Leader to play a key role in the continued growth and development of the transmission practice.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who brings strong technical credibility in transmission line engineering but is equally motivated by leading people, developing teams, owning client relationships, and driving successful project delivery.
The successful candidate will serve as a senior technical and project leader, providing direction across transmission line projects while mentoring engineers and helping strengthen the capabilities of the broader team.
What You'll Do
- Lead transmission line engineering projects and project teams from initial planning through design and construction support.
- Provide technical leadership and direction across overhead transmission line design, including route development, line and structure spotting, structure analysis/design, foundations, specifications, and constructability.
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineers, providing technical guidance, design oversight, and support for their continued professional growth.
- Serve as a senior technical resource for the transmission group, helping establish engineering best practices and maintaining high standards of quality.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted technical partner and senior point of contact throughout project delivery.
- Work closely with project management and company leadership to understand client needs, resolve challenges, and identify opportunities for additional work.
- Take ownership of project execution, including scope, schedule, technical quality, resource planning, and coordination across disciplines.
- Lead technical reviews and provide oversight of engineering calculations, design packages, specifications, drawings, and deliverables.
- Support the continued growth and development of the transmission engineering team, including mentoring, knowledge sharing, and developing technical capabilities.
- Collaborate across transmission, substation, renewables, and other power infrastructure disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
- Help identify opportunities to improve processes, engineering standards, and project execution as the business continues to grow.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of progressive experience in overhead transmission line engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Strong experience with PLS-CADD and transmission line design.
- Thorough understanding of NESC requirements and applicable transmission engineering standards.
- Demonstrated experience leading transmission line projects and engineering teams.
- Ability to mentor and provide technical direction to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Strong client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to represent the transmission group at a senior level.
- Experience managing multiple priorities while maintaining technical quality and project delivery.
- Strong understanding of transmission line engineering from conceptual development through detailed design and construction support.
- A collaborative leadership style and genuine interest in building people, teams, and client relationships.

This role would be particularly well suited to a Senior/Lead Transmission Line Engineer, Technical Lead, Engineering Manager, or emerging Discipline Leader who wants to have a greater impact on the direction and growth of a transmission group.
We're looking for someone who can still roll up their sleeves technically when needed, but whose value goes beyond producing calculations and designs. They should be able to lead the team, develop engineers, provide technical authority, engage directly with clients, and help grow the practice.
