Our client is a respected geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing consultancy with a strong presence throughout Florida. Following recent investment from a rapidly expanding national engineering platform, the company is continuing to grow its market share across transportation, aviation, municipal, and infrastructure projects throughout the state.

To support this growth, they are seeking a CMT Department Manager (P.E.) to lead and expand their Construction Materials Testing division in Tampa.

The successful candidate will oversee operations, mentor technical staff, strengthen client relationships, and ensure the successful delivery of testing and inspection services across a diverse portfolio of projects. The role combines technical oversight, leadership, business development, and operational management, making it an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to progress toward senior leadership or future Principal-level responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the CMT department
  • Lead, mentor, and develop field and laboratory personnel
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control procedures
  • Review testing reports and ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation
  • Support client development and maintain key relationships
  • Collaborate with geotechnical, environmental, and engineering teams
  • Assist in strategic planning and growth initiatives for the Tampa office

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • Experience in Construction Materials Testing and Inspection
  • Leadership or management experience within a CMT environment
  • Strong understanding of quality control and testing standards
  • Experience managing teams, budgets, and client relationships
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Desire to contribute to the growth and long-term success of the business
