We're looking for a Senior Controls Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves solving complex challenges. In this role, you'll be at the heart of designing and implementing advanced control systems that power automated assembly and testing equipment.

You won't just be programming PLCs-you'll be leading projects from concept to commissioning, working with motion control, vision systems, robotics, and custom software solutions. If you're ready to take ownership of automation projects and collaborate with a team that values innovation, this is your opportunity to shine.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you'll play a critical role in delivering world-class automation solutions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Design & Development: Create robust control systems for automated assembly and testing equipment, ensuring precision and reliability.
  • PLC Programming: Develop and integrate Beckhoff PLCs using TwinCAT, along with intuitive HMI interfaces for seamless operator interaction.
  • Custom Software: Build and maintain C# applications for machine control and data acquisition, enabling smarter, more efficient processes.
  • Vision Systems: Configure and deploy industrial vision systems (Cognex, Keyence) for inspection and quality assurance.
  • Motion Control: Implement and fine-tune servo drives and actuators for high-performance motion control systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Lead root cause analysis and resolve complex automation issues quickly and effectively.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ensure smooth integration across all systems.
  • Commissioning: Support system validation, customer acceptance testing, and on-site commissioning.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed electrical schematics, software architecture diagrams, and user manuals.
  • Mentorship: Guide junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

What You Bring

We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with a problem-solving mindset. Here's what will make you successful in this role:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, ideally in automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Beckhoff TwinCAT 3, C#, and HMI development.
  • Strong understanding of motion control systems and vision system integration (Cognex, Keyence).
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Beckhoff, Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, OPC UA, Modbus).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and project management abilities.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with robotic integration (Fanuc, ABB).
  • Knowledge of MES systems and data logging.
  • Understanding of safety systems and risk assessments (SIL, ISO 13849).
  • Automotive industry experience or exposure to IATF 16949 standards.
