Controls Engineering Manager - Building Automation (BAS)

Lead a high‑performing BAS engineering team delivering complex projects across commercial, healthcare, life sciences, and mission‑critical environments. You'll own the engineering lifecycle-from basis of design through submittals, multi‑platform DDC programming standards, FAT/SAT, and turnover-driving quality, schedule, and client satisfaction.

What you'll do

  • Own design submittals: control drawings, risers/network architecture, panel layouts, point schedules, device selection, and sequences of operation aligned to spec and codes. Maintain RFI/submittal logs and close comments rapidly.
  • Set DDC programming standards across multiple platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara N4, Distech, Delta, Alerton, Honeywell, ALC WebCTRL, Schneider, Siemens). Approve logic libraries, graphics, alarming/trending schemas, naming/tagging, and DB hygiene.
  • Lead & mentor 6-12 engineers/programmers; run design reviews, code checklists, QA/QC gates, and commissioning readiness.
  • Coordinate delivery with PMs/field: on‑time startup, point‑to‑point, FPT, TAB integration; drive as‑builts, O&M, training, and closeout.
  • Interface with owners/GC/MEP; lead technical meetings, manage VE options and change orders, and de‑risk early.
  • Drive integration using BACnet/IP & MSTP, Modbus, OPC/REST; connect BMS to metering/SCADA/analytics; publish dashboards and KPIs.

What you'll bring

  • 7-12+ years BAS engineering, including 2-5 years leading/mentoring teams.
  • Strong DDC programming & graphics on at least two major platforms; Niagara framework preferred.
  • Mastery of sequences, point lists, control logic, PID tuning, alarming, trending.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Bluebeam/Visio; fluent reading of MEP sets/specs.
  • Commissioning expertise (FAT/SAT, functional testing, startup, troubleshooting).
  • Familiarity with IT networks, VLANs, and cybersecurity basics.
  • Excellent client communication and documentation rigor.

Nice‑to‑haves: PE/EIT, CxA, LEED; Niagara NCP/N4 certs; mission‑critical or life‑science project experience; Project Haystack/Brick tagging; SQL/analytics (e.g., SkySpark).
