Senior Project Manager - Mission Critical (Hamlet, NC)

Location: Charlotte, NC
Salary: $130,000 - $190,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Overview

An established electrical contractor is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of large-scale Mission Critical and Data Center projects. This individual will be responsible for project strategy, financial performance, client relationships, operational execution, and team leadership from preconstruction through project closeout.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering complex, high-profile projects while mentoring project teams and driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead one or multiple mission critical projects with full responsibility for budget, schedule, safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement project execution strategies aligned with operational and financial objectives.
  • Oversee contract administration, change management, risk mitigation, and project reporting.
  • Maintain profitability through effective cost control, forecasting, and resource management.
  • Evaluate and approve change orders while ensuring project goals remain on track.

Preconstruction & Planning

  • Review drawings, specifications, and design documents to identify scope gaps and project risks.
  • Partner with Preconstruction and VDC/BIM teams to support accurate budgets, schedules, and procurement strategies.
  • Manage RFIs and design coordination efforts to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Provide operational input during project pursuits and preconstruction planning.

Schedule & Resource Management

  • Develop and maintain master project schedules and manpower forecasts.
  • Monitor key milestones and proactively identify schedule risks.
  • Coordinate with operations and field leadership to ensure resources are effectively allocated across projects.
  • Drive recovery plans and solutions when project challenges arise.

VDC/BIM & Prefabrication

  • Collaborate closely with BIM/VDC teams to improve constructability and project coordination.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and review models, layouts, and installation plans.
  • Support prefabrication initiatives to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Work with design teams and trade partners to maximize off-site manufacturing opportunities.

Safety & Quality

  • Champion a culture of safety across all project teams.
  • Ensure project-specific safety plans are implemented and continuously improved.
  • Oversee quality control processes, commissioning activities, and project documentation.
  • Partner with field leadership to maintain compliance with company standards and client requirements.

Client & Team Leadership

  • Build strong relationships with owners, general contractors, consultants, and trade partners.
  • Mentor Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance project environment.
  • Support the development of future leaders through coaching and career development initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Electrical Construction Project Management experience.
  • Proven experience delivering Mission Critical, Data Center, Industrial, or large-scale Commercial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project financials, forecasting, scheduling, procurement, and contract management.
  • Experience managing large project teams and multiple stakeholders.
  • Understanding of BIM/VDC processes and modern construction technologies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Data Center or Mission Critical construction experience.
  • Experience with Lean Construction methodologies and prefabrication strategies.
  • Background managing projects with significant electrical contract values.
  • Exposure to commissioning, turnover, and startup processes.
