Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineer will support energy engineering, commissioning, and facility optimization projects throughout New England. This role combines engineering analysis with hands-on field work and will focus heavily on energy studies, building assessments, energy modeling, and performance improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will evaluate system performance, identify efficiency opportunities, develop practical recommendations, and help clients achieve operational and sustainability goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support energy engineering and building performance projects
- Conduct energy audits, facility assessments, and focused energy studies
- Perform site visits and collect operational and performance data
- Develop energy models and perform engineering analyses
- Evaluate HVAC and building systems to identify optimization opportunities
- Support commissioning and retro-commissioning activities
- Prepare technical reports and client deliverables
- Present findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Support business development and proposal efforts as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in energy engineering, energy modeling, analysis, or measurement & verification (M&V)
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, thermodynamics, and building energy performance
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems
- Experience performing energy studies and developing financial analyses for energy conservation measures
- Experience with energy modeling software such as eQuest or similar platforms
- Commissioning or retro-commissioning experience preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and technical writing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and engineering software tools
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Valid driver's license
