My client is a specialist structural engineering and building consulting firm recognized for its expertise in structural design, building rehabilitation, and complex renovation projects. With a team of highly skilled engineers, technical consultants, and project leaders, the firm provides services across new construction, restoration, structural assessments, parking structure repair, waterproofing consulting, and Owner representation.

As the firm continues to grow, there is an opportunity for a seasoned structural engineer to step into a Lead Engineer position designed to build leadership and client development capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
Structural Engineering & Design
- Lead and perform structural analysis and design for new and existing buildings using steel, concrete, masonry, and wood framing systems.
- Oversee the development of structural design documents, calculations, and technical specifications in coordination with CAD/Revit technicians.
- Utilize 2D and 3D engineering modelling tools to support structural design workflows.
Investigations & Field Work
- Conduct evaluations, field assessments, and condition observations of existing buildings and parking structures.
- Prepare written engineering reports, repair recommendations, and long-term maintenance projections.
- Support on-site testing, special inspections, and construction-phase services.
Project & Team Leadership
- Coordinate work across engineers, technicians, and external stakeholders to ensure quality, accuracy, and project alignment.
- Provide technical guidance and detailing oversight to internal drafting teams.
- Collaborate regularly with clients and project leaders to manage scope, timelines, and budgets.
Client & Business Development
- Work with a mentor to cultivate advanced client relationship skills.
- Attend client meetings, contribute to proposal preparation, and assist in developing engineering work scopes.
- Engage in industry organizations and local community networks in alignment with company values and business development goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Minnesota or eligible in other practicing jurisdictions.
- 6-12 years of experience in structural engineering with demonstrated design experience in steel, concrete, masonry, or wood systems.
- Experience in building envelope or waterproofing consulting is advantageous.
- Strong technical writing, detailing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and transition effectively between design, investigation, and field work settings.
- Proficiency with structural modelling software and an interest in expanding technical leadership capabilities.
