The Role
Our client is seeking an Estimator to take ownership of the pre-construction process and play a critical role in securing and delivering successful projects. Working closely with business development and operations teams, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, developing competitive bids, reviewing project documentation, and identifying value-driven solutions for clients. This position offers significant responsibility, direct involvement in project strategy, and the opportunity to influence key decisions from project inception through handover to construction teams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and competitive bid proposals for commercial construction projects
- Perform quantity take-offs and analyse project requirements.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to develop accurate pricing strategies.
- Conduct site visits to gather information for renovation and modification projects.
- Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to develop practical construction solutions.
- Produce and maintain accurate estimates using estimating software and industry best practices.
- Support project planning and pre-construction activities to ensure smooth project transitions.
- Coordinate with operations teams throughout project handover.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, industry standards, and project requirements.
- Maintain high levels of organisation, documentation accuracy, and quality control.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of estimating or construction experience
- Experience working on commercial construction projects and multi-level structures.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Experience performing quantity take-offs and reviewing construction documents.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
- Positive, proactive approach and the ability to work independently within a collaborative team environment
