Geotechnical Engineer - Austin, TX
We're seeking a motivated early-career professional to support a variety of field and office-based tasks in environmental, geotechnical, and geological projects. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys both technical work and being outdoors, and who is eager to grow within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field investigations, including soil sampling, site inspections, and environmental data collection.
- Assist with laboratory testing and help interpret geotechnical and environmental data.
- Contribute to the development of technical reports, drawings, and project documentation.
- Support senior engineers and scientists during construction oversight to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Coordinate logistics such as equipment preparation, fieldwork scheduling, and progress tracking.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve field-related challenges.
- Travel to project sites as required, including occasional overnight stays.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Willingness to work in both field and office settings.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Flexibility to travel and work variable hours, including occasional weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or academic experience in field investigations, environmental assessments, or geotechnical studies.
- Familiarity with field equipment such as soil sampling tools or dynamic cone penetrometers (DCP).
- Exposure to software such as AutoCAD, GIS, gINT, or GeoStudio.
- Participation in student or professional organizations.
- Interest in renewable energy, infrastructure, or environmental sustainability projects.
