About the Opportunity
We're partnered with a well-established building automation and controls contractor that continues to grow throughout the commercial market. They're seeking a senior-level controls professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, working directly with customers, and taking ownership of projects from problem identification through resolution.
This role is heavily focused on controls and building automation systems. While HVAC knowledge is helpful, the client is specifically looking for someone whose expertise lies in BAS/DDC controls, system performance, programming adjustments, and diagnostics.
What You'll Be Doing
- Service, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial building automation systems
- Diagnose control system issues involving HVAC equipment, network communications, sensors, controllers, and field devices
- Perform system checkouts, preventative maintenance, and operational testing
- Make programming changes, controller modifications, and sequence adjustments when necessary
- Support retrofit projects, upgrades, and controls optimization efforts
- Work directly with customers to identify issues and provide technical solutions
- Review trends, alarms, graphics, and system performance data to resolve problems efficiently
- Coordinate with project teams on controls-related service activities
- Provide technical expertise during commissioning and startup activities when needed
What They're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience working with commercial BAS/DDC systems
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities
- Ability to independently manage service calls and resolve controls-related issues
- Experience supporting HVAC equipment through building automation systems
- Familiarity with programming, commissioning, or modifying control sequences
- Understanding of control devices including sensors, actuators, VFDs, controllers, and networking components
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with facility personnel and end users
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to customer sites
