Building Automation Product Owner - Distech Controls R&D
We are seeking an experienced Building Automation Product Owner to lead the research, development, and innovation of solutions centred around Distech Controls technologies. This role is responsible for defining product strategy, identifying emerging opportunities within smart buildings, and driving the development of next-generation building automation solutions. The ideal candidate will combine technical BAS expertise with strong product leadership skills to deliver solutions that improve building performance, energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and operational insight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the product roadmap for Distech Controls-based solutions and integrations.
- Conduct R&D into new technologies, protocols, devices, and applications within the building automation industry.
- Identify opportunities to enhance existing products and develop new offerings for customers and end users.
- Gather requirements from customers, engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to define product priorities.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, engineering, and operations teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Drive innovation in HVAC controls, analytics, energy management, cloud connectivity, and smart building technologies.
- Evaluate market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Support product testing, validation, proof-of-concepts, and pilot deployments.
- Develop business cases, product specifications, technical documentation, and training materials.
- Act as the subject matter expert for Distech Controls products and related building automation technologies.
Requirements:
- Strong experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), preferably Distech Controls.
- Deep understanding of HVAC controls, BACnet, smart building platforms, and system integrations.
- Experience in product ownership, product management, R&D, applications engineering, or solutions development.
- Ability to translate customer requirements into technical product strategies.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and project leadership skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Building Services, Controls, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
