About the Opportunity
A leading mechanical contractor in the Charlotte market is seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator to join its growing preconstruction team. This position will play a critical role in developing accurate cost estimates for commercial and industrial HVAC projects while working closely with project management, operations, vendors, and clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator looking to work on large-scale projects across healthcare, mission-critical, manufacturing, higher education, commercial, and industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed HVAC estimates for plan/spec, design-build, and negotiated projects.
Review drawings, specifications, and other bid documents to determine project requirements.
Perform quantity takeoffs for ductwork, piping, equipment, insulation, controls, and related systems.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
Analyze project risks, value engineering opportunities, and constructability issues.
Work closely with operations teams during handoff meetings to ensure accurate project execution.
Participate in scope reviews, pre-bid meetings, and client presentations.
Maintain and build relationships with general contractors, developers, engineers, and vendors.
Track market pricing trends and maintain estimating databases.
Qualifications
3+ years of estimating experience within mechanical construction.
Experience estimating commercial HVAC projects.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems including:
HVAC
Chilled water systems
Heating water systems
Ductwork
VRF systems
Boilers and chillers
Building automation systems
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
