ICT Designer - Technology Systems Design

Overview

Position Responsibilities

• Prepare designs for communications infrastructure and low-voltage technology systems within commercial and institutional facilities.
• Develop layouts and documentation supporting wired and wireless connectivity solutions, communications platforms, technology equipment spaces, and specialty systems.
• Create project drawings, diagrams, schedules, specifications, and supporting documentation using industry-standard design software.
• Assist in evaluating client requirements, conducting existing-condition assessments, and translating project objectives into practical design solutions.
• Coordinate closely with internal project teams and external stakeholders throughout planning, design, and construction phases.
• Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and field investigations.
• Support construction administration efforts, including reviewing contractor submissions, answering technical questions, and validating installed systems.
• Maintain project documentation quality through established review procedures and adherence to applicable standards.
• Research emerging technologies and recommend innovative approaches where appropriate.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to less experienced team members.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience designing technology, telecommunications, networking, or low-voltage systems within the architecture, engineering, or construction environment.
• Familiarity with industry practices related to cabling systems, communications rooms, network infrastructure, and technology distribution.
• Understanding of applicable codes, standards, and best practices governing technology system design.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting.
• Experience collaborating within BIM-based project environments.

Professional Background

• Approximately five or more years of experience developing technology infrastructure designs for building projects.
• Demonstrated ability to produce construction documents and technical specifications.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and other design-related software platforms.
• Experience using digital collaboration and project management tools.
• Relevant certifications in technology infrastructure, communications systems, audiovisual design, or security systems are advantageous.
• Degree in engineering, information technology, telecommunications, architecture, construction management, or a related discipline preferred.
