Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager (In House)
Location: Greater Boston Area (North of Boston)
Compensation: $130,000 - $150,000 Base Salary
A well-established New England real estate owner and developer is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager to join its growing development team.
The organization owns and operates a large portfolio of retail and commercial properties throughout the Northeast and is actively investing in redevelopment, expansion, and new development opportunities. This role offers the chance to work directly on the owner side, supporting projects from initial concept through permitting and construction while helping shape the future growth of the portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate site layouts for retail, commercial, and mixed-use developments
- Perform hands-on CAD work and site planning to assess development feasibility and tenant fit
- Coordinate civil engineering efforts for new developments, redevelopments, and major renovations
- Lead permitting and entitlement processes with municipalities, planning boards, and regulatory agencies
- Manage outside consultants, including civil engineers, surveyors, traffic engineers, architects, and environmental professionals
- Support due diligence, site investigations, and development planning activities
- Attend and present at public hearings, planning board meetings, and community meetings
- Collaborate with internal real estate and development teams on portfolio-wide initiatives
- Assist with longer-term mixed-use and residential development opportunities
Qualifications
- 10-15+ years of civil engineering experience
- Strong background in land development, site development, retail, commercial, or mixed-use projects
- Experience navigating local permitting and entitlement processes
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and site layout design
- Ability to balance technical execution with project management responsibilities
- Experience presenting projects to municipalities and public officials
- PE license preferred but not required
- Prior consulting experience strongly preferred
