Role Overview
A well-established construction firm is seeking an experienced Construction Surveyor to support the successful delivery of civil, public infrastructure, sitework, and specialty construction projects across the Greater Boston area.
This role is critical to field execution, providing accurate layout, survey support, as-built documentation, quantity tracking, and coordination with project teams throughout the life of multiple active projects.
The right candidate will be detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and field crews to ensure work is laid out accurately, documented properly, and completed in line with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete baseline construction surveys at the start of projects
- Provide ongoing survey and layout support throughout active construction
- Perform layout for sitework, utilities, drainage, concrete, foundations, elevations, grades, and related civil scopes
- Support layout on water/wastewater, parks, athletic facilities, site development, and public infrastructure projects
- Create and maintain as-built drawings using AutoCAD
- Assist with quantity takeoffs, field measurements, and production tracking
- Work closely with Superintendents and field teams to support accurate project execution
- Participate in daily huddles, toolbox talks, and project coordination meetings
- Identify layout conflicts, field discrepancies, or plan issues early and communicate them clearly
- Maintain accurate survey records, field notes, and documentation
What They're Looking For
- 8+ years of construction survey and layout experience on civil, sitework, public infrastructure, utility, or related construction projects
- Strong knowledge of survey equipment including total stations, data collectors, and GPS
- Experience with site layout, grading, elevations, utilities, foundations, drainage, and concrete-related layout
- 5+ years of AutoCAD experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, elevations, and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Good communication skills and ability to work well with Superintendents, Project Managers, and field crews
- Willingness to travel to projects throughout Boston and surrounding areas
