Industrial Solutions Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Customer Requirement Analysis

  • Analyze customer technical requirements to define process objectives, equipment needs, throughput targets, and system constraints.
  • Partner with Sales to shape solutions that solve real manufacturing problems while supporting commercial goals.

Solution Development and Proposal Creation

  • Develop complete sales proposals, including:
    • Technical and commercial documentation
    • 2D and 3D sales drawings
    • 3D renderings and simulations
    • Process flow diagrams and equipment layouts
    • Capacity studies and bottleneck analyses

Engineering and Cost Analysis

  • Estimate system and equipment costs using historical data, Excel models, and collaboration with engineering, controls, automation, and manufacturing teams.
  • Evaluate feasibility, risk, and cost drivers early to strengthen proposal accuracy.

Technical Documentation

  • Create clear process descriptions, technical specifications, and project requirements that define scope for both customers and internal teams.

Presentation and Communication

  • Present proposed solutions to customers and internal stakeholders in virtual and in-person settings.
  • Support the Sales team during customer discussions by explaining system design, performance, and assumptions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, operations, and manufacturing to ensure proposed solutions align with Globe's capabilities and execution standards.

  • Customer requirements are translated into clear, buildable solutions.
  • Proposals are technically sound, visually clear, and commercially competitive.
  • Sales teams trust your technical judgment and involve you early.
  • Engineering and operations teams can execute what is sold with minimal rework.

Skills and Experience

Technical Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment specifications.
  • Experience or working proficiency with:
    • AutoCAD, Inventor, or Factory Design Utilities
    • SolidWorks experience is also relevant
    • Excel for cost modeling and process analysis
    • Word for technical documentation
  • Experience developing process flows, layout concepts, capacity studies, and bottleneck analyses preferred.
  • Ability to create both technical drawings and visually polished sales renderings strongly preferred.

Communication and Work Style

  • Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working independently while staying aligned with Sales, Engineering, and Operations.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-definition and research skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in one or more of the following industries:
    • Building Products Manufacturing including wood-based, engineered wood, or cementitious products
    • Pulp and Paper
    • Advanced Composites for aerospace, automotive, or infrastructure markets
  • Familiarity with industrial automation, PLC controls, and Fanuc robotics is a plus.
  • Prior experience in applications engineering, technical sales, or similar customer-facing engineering roles strongly preferred.
