About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Investment Management Director / VP to join a leading team in Japan. This is a key leadership role within a fast-growing BESS developer with a strong project pipeline. The successful candidate will lead investment analysis and financing activities for new projects, ensuring robust financial modeling and strategic decision-making to support growth in the Japanese market.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Financial Modeling & Investment Analysis:
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models for new projects.
- Conduct investment-case analysis to support decision-making and optimize returns.
Investment Committee (IC) Preparation:
- Prepare and present comprehensive investment cases for IC approval.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on project economics and risk assessment.
Financing & Valuation Workstreams:
- Support project financing activities, including debt structuring and equity considerations.
- Lead valuation analysis for new and existing projects.
Lender Relationship Management:
- Act as the primary relationship manager with external lenders and financial institutions.
- Negotiate financing terms and ensure smooth execution of funding agreements.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Work closely with the Global Growth & Analytics (GGA) team and external advisors.
- Collaborate with project development, legal, and technical teams to ensure financial integrity across all stages.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in investment management, project finance, or corporate finance
- Proven track record in financial modeling, valuation, and investment analysis for large-scale projects in renewable or real estate
- Strong understanding of debt financing structures and lender negotiations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with international teams.
- Fluency in Japanese and English required.
