About the Opportunity
A leading mechanical contractor is seeking a Junior Plumbing Estimator to join its growing preconstruction team in Charlotte, NC. This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Estimator, Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or someone with plumbing construction experience looking to transition into estimating.
You will work alongside experienced estimators and project managers, helping develop competitive bids for commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and mixed-use construction projects throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of detailed plumbing estimates and bid proposals.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Perform quantity take-offs for plumbing systems.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Maintain accurate cost databases and estimating records.
- Support senior estimators during the bidding process.
- Attend bid reviews, project handoff meetings, and preconstruction discussions.
- Help identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
- Collaborate with project management and operations teams to ensure smooth project transitions.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience within plumbing, mechanical construction, estimating, project engineering, or a related field.
- Understanding of commercial plumbing systems and construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Trimble, FastPIPE, AutoBid, or similar estimating software is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn.
