Land Survey Technician
An established civil and land development consulting firm is looking for a motivated Land Survey Technician to join its growing team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being outdoors, working with their hands, and learning practical skills that can lead to a long-term career in land surveying.
Previous surveying experience is not required. You will receive hands-on training from experienced survey professionals and assist with fieldwork for a variety of commercial, residential, municipal, and recreational development projects.
What You'll Do
- Assist the survey crew with daily field assignments
- Collect measurements and property information using modern survey equipment
- Help complete boundary, topographic, construction staking, and existing-condition surveys
- Locate and mark property corners, survey points, and site features
- Carry, set up, and maintain field equipment
- Record clear and accurate field notes
- Follow company safety standards on active project sites
- Communicate with crew members and project teams
- Travel locally to different project locations
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED
- No previous surveying experience necessary
- Interest in outdoor, construction, engineering, or land development work
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn
- Strong attention to detail
- Positive and team-oriented attitude
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely
- Valid driver's license preferred
Physical Requirements
This is an outdoor field position. Candidates should be comfortable:
- Working outside in different weather conditions
- Walking or standing for extended periods
- Navigating uneven or wooded terrain
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
- Bending, kneeling, climbing, and crouching when necessary
