M&A Project Development

We are seeking a Project Development & M&A Manager to drive the growth of our renewable energy portfolio across solar, hydrogen, and other clean energy projects. This role will be responsible for originating, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities, as well as supporting project development from early-stage through to financial close.

A background in legal, project finance, or structured transactions is highly preferred given the strong focus on contracts, negotiations, and deal structuring.

Key Responsibilities

  1. M&A and Investment Execution
  • Lead end-to-end execution of M&A transactions including origination, due diligence, valuation, and deal closing
  • Structure and negotiate key agreements including SPA, SHA, JV agreements, and project contracts
  • Coordinate internal approvals and manage investment committee materials
  • Work closely with financial advisors, legal counsel, and technical consultants throughout transaction lifecycle
  1. Project Development
  • Support development of greenfield and brownfield renewable energy projects (solar PV, hydrogen, BESS, etc.)
  • Drive early-stage activities including site identification, permitting strategy, and stakeholder engagement
  • Oversee development milestones through to Ready-to-Build (RTB) and/or financial close
  • Evaluate project risks across technical, regulatory, commercial, and land aspects
  1. Commercial Structuring & Offtake
  • Support negotiation of PPA, offtake agreements, and commercial contracts
  • Assess revenue models and market dynamics (merchant vs contracted)
  • Work on structuring of projects linked to hydrogen/ammonia or industrial decarbonisation solutions
  1. Legal & Contracts Focus (Key Requirement)
  • Review and negotiate key project and corporate documentation
  • Manage legal due diligence processes and coordinate with external counsel
  • Identify and mitigate contractual risks across development and acquisition phases
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory and permitting frameworks
  1. Strategic Development & Partnerships
  • Identify new market entry opportunities and expansion strategies
  • Build relationships with local developers, utilities, corporates, and government stakeholders
  • Evaluate partnerships, co-development, and JV structures
  1. Cross-functional Coordination
  • Work closely with internal teams (engineering, finance, legal, commercial) to drive project execution
  • Coordinate multiple stakeholders and ensure alignment across development and investment workstreams
  • Manage timelines and ensure projects progress according to development plan

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Engineering, or related field
  • 5-15 years of experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or energy transition sectors
  • Strong experience in:
    • M&A / investments / project finance
    • Renewable project development (solar, hydrogen, wind, BESS)
  • Legal background preferred (LLB, transactional legal exposure, or heavy contract experience)
  • Proven track record in SPA/SHA negotiation and due diligence execution
  • Understanding of regulatory and permitting processes in energy markets
  • Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills
