A respected consulting and design engineering firm with over 40 years of experience is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join its Mission Critical Department. This fully remote position focuses on the design and development of hyperscale data centers and other mission-critical facilities. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to some of the most advanced engineering projects in the industry-all from the comfort of your home.

Role Summary
The Mechanical Engineer will lead full-cycle mechanical design efforts for commercial building projects, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and leadership. This role involves independent execution of complex engineering tasks, project team leadership, and contributions to organizational development and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Design Leadership (40%)

  • Execute advanced mechanical engineering tasks and design computations
  • Perform load calculations and energy simulations
  • Develop HVAC control sequences and system specifications
  • Create detailed drawings using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Lead design teams, manage project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews and identify scope changes

Construction Support (20%)

  • Survey existing conditions and prepare technical reports
  • Develop construction documents and specifications
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders
  • Lead punch list and project closeout processes

Client and Stakeholder Management (20%)

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients
  • Ensure project execution aligns with organizational standards
  • Support business development and contribute to technical publications

Organizational Development (20%)

  • Mentor junior staff and support training initiatives
  • Contribute to internal standards and strategic planning
  • Participate in hiring and continuous improvement efforts

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems design, codes, and specifications
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with CFD, load calculations, and energy modeling
  • Ability to select HVAC equipment and develop hydronic systems
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment
  • Experience managing teams and coordinating across disciplines

Additional Details

  • Travel up to 10% may be required across the U.S.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
  • Must maintain a distraction-free, professional remote workspace
