Mechanical Engineering Project Manager
The Mechanical Engineering Project Manager is responsible for overseeing assigned projects of moderate to high scope and complexity, or managing multiple projects/clients simultaneously. This role involves planning and executing project strategies, delivering high-quality services on schedule, managing project financial performance, and serving as the primary liaison between internal project teams and clients. The Project Manager ensures project execution aligns with established plans and is accountable for overall project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Confirm project scope and requirements with clients and stakeholders
- Develop project financial plans, including preparation of proposals and preliminary labor budgets; collaborate with leadership as needed
- Ensure contracts are properly executed by authorized personnel
- Establish project staffing plans and refine labor budgets in coordination with leadership
- Lead project kick-off meetings to communicate scope, expectations, budgets, and standards
- Collaborate with technical teams to finalize labor budgets based on work plans and task requirements
- Provide proactive leadership and guidance to internal project teams
- Work with clients and internal teams to define schedules, milestones, and deliverables; adjust plans as necessary
- Coordinate schedules, communicate action items, monitor resource allocation, and maintain accurate labor projections
- Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping for all project activities
- Develop and implement Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes
- Oversee billing accuracy, timely invoicing, and accounts receivable collection; track and update revenue projections
- Participate in meetings with clients and stakeholders; facilitate communication and document key discussions
- Monitor project budgets and ensure alignment between labor usage and financial targets
- Identify and manage additional service opportunities, including scope changes and associated fees
- Build and maintain strong client relationships; support business development and identify growth opportunities
- Respond to requests for information from clients and contractors in a timely and thorough manner
- Identify and resolve issues impacting project quality, schedule, or financial outcomes through effective coordination
- Oversee construction administration processes to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards
- Manage project closeout procedures, ensuring completion of documentation and internal reviews
- Participate in ongoing professional development and technical training; contribute effectively in multidisciplinary environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant experience in healthcare/hospital projects, or 12+ years of practical experience on similar projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects of varying size and complexity
- Professional licensure preferred (PE, PMP, etc.)
