Operations Engineer I,II or III
Overview
Seeking an Operations Engineer to support transmission system operations and outage coordination. This role ensures maintenance and construction outages are executed safely without compromising system reliability, while supporting real-time operations, planning studies, and coordination with grid stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate transmission and generation outages, assessing reliability impacts and system constraints
- Support system operations through EMS tools (State Estimator, contingency analysis) and real-time applications
- Perform operating studies and develop seasonal power flow models
- Assist in developing operating procedures, guides, and restoration plans
- Provide technical support to system operators, including during emergencies and system events
- Collaborate with internal teams, field crews, project managers, and external partners (e.g., ISOs/RTOs, utilities)
- Support transmission projects by reviewing outage schedules, sequencing, and system impacts
Qualifications
Level I
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (power focus preferred)
- 0-3 years of experience (internships/co-ops applicable)
- Foundational understanding of power systems, outage coordination, or EMS tools
Level II
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering + 4+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in system operations, planning, or power system studies
- Familiarity with power flow analysis and transmission operations
Level III
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering + 7+ years of relevant experience
- Strong expertise in transmission operations, outage coordination, and reliability assessments
- Advanced experience with power flow modeling and operational planning
Key Skills
- Power system operations & transmission reliability knowledge

- Strong communication and technical documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operations environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; EMS and power flow tools preferred
