Job Title: Substation Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Substation Engineer to join our growing team and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of high-voltage substation projects across the U.S. In this role, you will be responsible for engineering and technical support for substation systems ranging from 12kV to 500kV, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed engineering designs for substation layouts, protection and control systems, grounding, and equipment specifications.
  • Prepare and review technical drawings, schematics, and documentation using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Perform calculations for short circuit analysis, load flow, relay coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Support construction and commissioning activities, including field visits and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC) and utility-specific requirements.
  • Participate in proposal development, cost estimation, and scope definition for new projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PE license preferred or ability to obtain.
  • 5+ years of experience in substation engineering, preferably in a consulting or utility environment.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as ETAP, SKM, or ASPEN.
  • Strong understanding of protection and control systems, SCADA integration, and substation automation.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
