A rapidly growing general contractor, delivering construction projects across education, healthcare, public/municipal, and mixed-use development, is hiring a Preconstruction Manager.
This role will be focused on leading front-end project planning and supporting the continued expansion of its commercial construction operations. This is an opportunity to join a highly respected contractor with a strong pipeline of work, whilst being responsible for launching the department locally.
Key responsibilities of the Preconstruction Manager include:
- Proactively identify and pursue new project opportunities across the Charleston market.
- Lead all preconstruction activities from conceptual budgeting through GMP development
- Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors during design development
- Evaluate drawings and specifications for constructability, cost savings, and risk mitigation opportunities
- Develop conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates across multiple project phases
Key requirements of the Preconstruction Manager include:
- Preconstruction or estimating experience with a General Contractor
- Proven experience delivering commercial construction projects
- Strong understanding of conceptual estimating, budgeting, and value engineering
- Experience managing projects ranging from $10M to $100M+
- Ability to build and maintain strong subcontractor relationships throughout the Charleston and Southeast markets
- Proficiency with industry estimating and preconstruction software
