Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to help lead and expand its surveying practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed surveyor who enjoys both technical project delivery and business development. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing survey operations, mentoring staff, cultivating client relationships, and supporting the strategic growth of the survey department. This position offers significant leadership visibility and a potential path toward future ownership and shareholder opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and coordination of survey projects and field operations.
- Prepare legal descriptions, easement descriptions, survey proposals, and project estimates.
- Perform and oversee boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and construction-related surveys.
- Support engineering, architecture, municipal, transportation, and land development projects.
- Manage project schedules, allocate resources, and ensure project deadlines are met.
- Review survey deliverables and maintain quality control standards.
- Assist with recruiting, training, mentoring, and developing survey staff.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, public agencies, developers, and project partners.
- Identify opportunities to expand surveying services and grow the firm's market presence.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project pursuits and business development efforts.
Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Kansas required.
- 2+ years of experience as a licensed surveyor preferred.
- Strong knowledge of boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and construction surveying practices.
- Experience with total stations, GPS equipment, and modern surveying technologies.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead projects effectively.
- Desire to contribute to business development, client management, and the long-term growth of the surveying practice.
